5 Artists to Watch in 2021

Updated: Feb 24, 2021

One of our favorite parts of the new year is discovering amazing new talent. Cities like Dallas, Nashville, and L.A. are rife with stellar creatives ready to help you kick off 2021 with good vibes and even better tunes.

Here are just five of the artists we’ll be listening to as we start the new year.

Pronounced “Spaceman,” this production project from CJ Serrato has been churning out impressive tracks for years. SPCMN remixes popular bops and creates originals like his recent track with LO. The name is apt, too: each of his tracks sounds like an ethereal transmission from outer space.

Trella has the kind of voice and range A&R folks dream about. She can write beautiful tunes, too. From her mellifluous EP “Waiting Games” to her end-of-the-year bop “Christmas Party,” acoustic singer-songwriter Trella brightened up 2020 all year long.

Cole's career is off to a stellar start. Using her iPhone and little else, the young artist crafted a tune (“It Was Meant to Be”) that premiered on the Dallas radio station KXT last February. Her latest release, “I’m The One,” is a deftly-penned, lyrically potent tune that continues Cole’s trend of delivering beautiful lo-fi tunes. If you like Clairo, you’ll dig Abby Cole.

This Nashville hip hop trio wasn’t able to host many of their high energy live shows in 2020, but that didn’t stop them from satisfying their growing fan base. As seen in the video above, the group boasts powerful, propulsive rhymes and braggadocio for days. Good times are guaranteed.

If Halsey and Billie Eilish somehow had a mutual cousin who, too, knew how to throw together a quintessential “sad girl” pop tune, that cousin’s name might be Savannah Sgro. Born in Vegas and now based in L.A., Sgro’s 2020 included a Billboard mention and over a million streams on Spotify. It may just be a matter of time before this indie artist is scorching the charts.
